ACTIVITIES AT ST. PETER'S (MOST RECENT FIRST)
RENAISSANCE MUSIC NIGHT - 11th November 2011
A fantastic mixture of entertainment and education was enjoyed by those that attended this music event. Music from the renaissance period was performed by the Doncaster Waites on reproduction instruments like the recorder, hurdy-gurdy, crumhorn and the forerunner of the modern trombone. The authentic dress of the Waites added further colour to the evening.

SUMMER SERENADE - THURNSCOE HARMONIC MALE VOICE CHOIR
15th JULY 2011
What a marvelous evening's entertainment for those that attended with a wide-ranging song style from the classics to songs from shows and musicals and even Elvis and Tom Jones! There were some fine solo performances including an own composition performance called "The Chair" which reflected the mining heritage of the area. We shall certainly be looking to invite the choir back for a repeat performance.
KID'S ART IN THE AISLES EXHIBITION 9th/10th JULY 2011
Our February "Art in the Aisles" exhibition showed just how talented people from Conisbrough are - July has given the same opportunity to the young people of the area as we hosted the KID'S Art in the Aisles exhibition with 5 different age groups entering. Visitors were asked to vote for their favourites in each category and (when the counting is done) we shall award a small prize to the winners.
SUMMER FAYRE 2011
Our annual Summer Fayre was a great success again. This year we had a special visit from the South Yorkshire Fire Brigade who were kind enough to bring along a Fire Engine for people to look at and to talk about fire safety. South Yorks police also came and met with visitors sharing information about bogus callers. They will be giving a talk in the near future at a Mother's Union meeting. Thanks to them and everyone that he[ed and supported the event.

PENTECOST CELEBRATIONS 2011
Rain didn't dampen the spirits of those attending this year's Conisbrough & Denaby Churches Together family fun event which, for weather reasons was held in St. Peter's Church Hall. Our thanks to All Saint's Woodlands for their excellent puppet show and all the musicians and singers. It was good to see everyone having fun AND we also now know which is the strongest gender since the women's tug-of-war team certainly showed the men's team what they were truly made of! Medals were handed out to those winning the egg & spoon race.
Monday 9th May
What an evening of entertainment! - Highly talented musicians/singers provided a wide ranging selection of music including a beautiful rendition of "Fields of Gold" performed by Paul Morowsky and a very different version of "Will you Still Love me Tomorrow" sung by Mick Bamford. There was also a selection of traditional music performed by Mick Swinson and Stuart Palmer and a dazlling classical guitar performance by Lee Myers. Our thanks to them and the other supporting musicians and the "sound guys" who had to deal with a number of technical glitches throughout the evening.
Saturday 26th & Sunday 27th February
Over the weekend, work by a number of local artists was on display in the church and a large number of visitors enjoyed the exhibition.
Work ranged from experienced professional artists to extremely talented amateurs using a variety of media including watercolours, acrylic, oils, wood and ceramics.
The success of the event and the interest that it generated means that we will be holding further similar events and anyone interested in being a part of future exhibitions is encouraged to contact the church using the form on the "contact us" page.
Art in the Aisles
Manchester Camerata Concert - 11th February 2011
The church played host to the Manchester Camerata who treated concert goers to a superb performance of pieces by Britten (Phantasy Quartet), Schubert (Trio Movement D471), Mozart (Oboe Quartet K370) and Schoenberg (Transfigured Night).
The Schoenberg piece was supported by a specially produced digital presentation by visual artist Netia Jones that provided an added dimension to the atmospheric performance.
The Camerata will be undertaking further concerts in the Doncaster area during 2011 details of which can be found on their website .
